'SUMMER HEAT'
August/September 2013 DPP Challenge
Hosted by Jane Albin

Solar, Summer, Sizzling Heat from the Sun

We have had one of the hottest Julys in a long time.
My challenge to you is to create artwork
using the heat and/or sunshine as your theme.

Maybe this.....

More like this...
Or this...

Or people sweltering in the sun.  Or should I
say 'glistening' from the heat?
Good Luck.  I'll be posting my hot
painting as soon as possible.
Jane

Let The Abstract Paintings Flow Thanks To The Daily Painters Of Pennsylvania Challenge Blog by Mary Beth Brath

For The Love Of Color by Mary Beth Brath

Dream Big by Mary Beth Brath

Brush to canvas. That was the only plan. I know nothing about abstracts. While on vacation at our family cabin in Northwestern PA, I worked everyday on plein air landscapes. Near the end of the week, I stayed up until 2am playing with color...and thinking. As I finished a brush stroke, I would pause and let the next part come to me. The paintings "are what they are". Creative freedom.

Abstracted Landscape II - acrylic objective abstract palette knife painting of landscape on canvas by Pennsylvania Contemporary Artist Pat Koscienski

Abstracted Landscape II
12" x 6"
Acrylic on canvas

I did start this abstract painting with a landscape in mind.  Beause an "object" is abstracted, and still can be seen, it is called an objective abstract, rather than a nonobjective abstract, where just color, texture and composition rule.  I used a palette knife to apply the paint, and wanted to abstract the color and keep it mainly to green and orange.  If you have any questions, or wish to purchase, contact PAT.  If you would like to see more of my paintings, both abstract or representational, please visit my website and blogspot at:
