Day One of My Abstract
For the June/July DPP Challenge

This is rather like walking around...in only your underpants...
I am feeling rather vulnerable and exposed!

I have NEVER tried doing an Abstract painting before, so
this is going to be an interesting experience.  I am going to be
brave, and each day that I work on my Abstract painting, I
am going to post the good, the bad and the ugly!

Step One - just brushing color onto my canvas
to remove all of that pristine whiteness!

Step Two is to look at the photograph (to the left
of my canvas), and pull out the abstract shapes that
I want in my painting.

Step Three, Painting on the canvas - with NO photographic
reference.  That has been removed from the studio so that I am
not even tempted to look at it.
I find I am still being too representational - but I see a
small amount of hope here.

What do you think?

I hope you will join me in this challenge.  I would
love to see other's experimentation!

Thanks, Linda - it's definitely a different world for me. I have been looking at the photos I posted here, and think I need to go back to the initial lay-in!

Interesting challenge Claire. I love you descriptions of your feelings as you embark on this journey. If I have time I'll try my hand at it!
