"Raw Railroad" by Larry Lerew

I was painting in Mechanicsburg and set up to paint the under side of the train car being used for the Chamber of Commerce as their office. The subject was devoid of color and all the metal framework and steel wheels were painted black. I still had shapes and values to see so I worked them into my design and replaced the black shapes with intuitive colors. This painting went a little beyond my recent semi abstract work although you can still make out the wheels sitting on tracks with ties underneath and the rivets running along the car's side on top.  I liked the experience and was pleased with the painting. I enjoy interpreting reality as abstract forms and find myself doing it all the time.
